International WDF Youth Challenge Denmark

History and Concept

IYC was first organized in 2019 by Austria and Hungary with the aim of developing junior darts under the WDF (World Darts Federation). It was a pioneering initiative to create a platform for young dart players to compete and exchange experiences on an international level.

Due to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was unfortunately postponed, and it was not held again until 2022. Despite these difficulties, it was possible to gather 66 players from different countries for this revival event.

In 2023, the success was repeated in Austria, where a total of 113 youth players from no less than 19 different nations participated. This was a clear testament to how IYC had grown into an international event and a focal point for young dart players from around the world.

In 2024, Denmark is also ready to join this exciting tradition. An IYC event is planned for July, and Germany has joined the ranks by organizing their own IYC in August.

Concept:

IYC is designed as a two-day event. On Saturday, WDF-sanctioned boys and girls singles are held, followed by a fun event for the participants. This allows for a combination of competition, entertainment, and friendship.

Sunday features team and pairs competitions with randomly drawn teams and pairs. The event concludes with a nations ranking, based on all games played over the weekend. The nations ranking is also recognized and awarded.

The entire event is organized by the Danish Dart Union (DDU) and is, including the fun event, free for all participants. It’s about creating an inclusive and rewarding experience for young dart players from around the world.

The International Youth Challenge (IYC) is more than just a dart tournament; it’s a celebration of talent, friendship, and dart culture across nations. We look forward to welcoming you to this year’s event and seeing how it continues to grow and strengthen the global darting community.
